Jeremy Leven: “I think Johnny is far and away the most talented of today’s young actors.  He is very much like Marlon on many fronts: they both have a 100 percent “bull” detector.”
Meeting Brando: ”I was really nervous on the way to the house.  I kept thinking about who I was going to meet and the things he had done in his career.  But that vanished almost instantly when I got there.  Marlon said, ‘Hello’, and invited me into his house and he was no longer this towering icon for me. He was just this great, wonderful guy that I was lucky to be working with.”
About Brando’s acting techniques: “I think he felt compelled to tell me about his experiences, to offer advice.  He said I should play Hamlet for one thing…There are times when you are trying to get somewhere inside, but there is so much stuff going on around you – the guy with the slate marker, the grip over there drinking coffee, the director going ‘Action!’ when you aren’t ready.  Marlon was there for me then. He helps create an atmosphere that makes those moments easier.  Even if it’s just by laughing and looking at you. Marlon helped me make the scenes between us really private.”
